Book That Flight, You Won't Regret It

Today is my first Monday back from my birthday vacation. I spent four days in Montego Bay, Jamaica with my friend and one day in Miami by myself. To say that Jamaica was beautiful would be an understatement. My first time traveling to Jamaica was last year with my family, and this time was even better. Jamaica has to be one of my favorite places to visit, because it just feels like home. I love the culture, people, and even food. Everybody that knows me, knows I love to travel. It’s really one of my favorite things to do. I’m so thankful that my mom started taking me on trips when I was just three years old. Now, I travel every chance I get. I’m not afraid to spend money on traveling, because I know it’s going to be money well spent. I even love traveling alone, it really brings me clarity. My best friend Toria and I travel really well together, because we allow each other to do our own things. Plus we really travel the same way. For me, I’m very particular in hotels and resorts that I stay in, and I invest a lot into the memories that I make. For example we stayed at a five-star resort in Jamaica, Ocean Eden Bay. The rooms were beautiful, had 15 restaurants, a bowling alley, three pools, a lazy river and so much more on it. We even did incredible excursions like climbing Dunnes River, which is a huge waterfall, River rafting on these bamboo rafts, and rode horses through the ocean. These excursions will be with me for the rest of my life, because it was something I had never experienced.

It’s important to travel with people who are like-minded as you, or else the trip could be hard. Don’t get me wrong I love group trips as well, but it’s something about traveling with someone who has the same energy as you. Jamaica is a place that I could definitely see myself going again. I even got to unplug and disconnect from the world for just a few days. Coming back home from a vacation is very refreshing. I always feel like I come back restored after a good trip. Someone asked me why I traveled so much, and initially I responded by saying because I like it. On the plane ride home, I thought deeper into that question. I sat with myself and pondered on why I love traveling like I do. The more I thought about it, these three reasons came to me.

1.It's So Much More Out There

How can you know what all this world has to offer if you never see it? Traveling shows me that I can be anywhere and do anything. It’s so many people who don’t think they deserve or are worthy to be in certain places. Traveling has removed that thought from my subconscious. Just because I am a black woman, doesn’t mean I can’t go anywhere, and do anything. Traveling opens your mind to the idea that the world is yours. I just love experiencing different cultures and ways of life. It gives me gratitude towards life and God! Whenever I travel I find myself constantly looking around and saying look at God.

2.It Activates Your Hustle

Every time I get home from a vacation, I get into grind mode like no other. I don’t know if it’s the fact that I spent too much money lol, or that I see how other cultures operate, but I return with a refreshed hustle. For example, in Jamaica, the people do so much with so little. Jamaican culture is to just get it done with no excuses. If they can do so much with what they have, how dare I come back to where I have all the resources and not do more. The people in Jamaica are all about the hustle, everybody is trying to get to the money, that inspires me to go harder. Also, being in Miami, and seeing all the nice cars, beautiful condos, and the way people are living, let’s me know that it’s so much money out here in this world, I just have to go get it.

3.It Creates Memories

The older I get, the more I just want good times and memories. Material things can’t go with you, all you have is your memories. Think about it, when someone passes away, all you have is the photos and memories. Money comes and goes, but the memories are what last. Life is so precious and I just want to maximize it. Beyonce once said, “You really need to live your life and open your eyes. You don’t want to wake up with no memories and never really being able to see the world.” That quote lives with me, and I just try to explore as much as I can. So I challenge you to get out and travel. Make memories with the people that you love. I know to some people traveling may seem scary and expensive, but it is worth it in the end.
