Slay Of The Week

Have you ever looked at somebody and thought to yourself, her hair is laidddddd? Well that was my first impression of this weeks slay of the week. We first crossed paths my second semester of my freshmen year. I loved how big and bouncy her curls were. As time went on I began seeing her more on the promenade. The two things that were always consistent when I would see her is her hair being on fleek and her outfits would be so cute. When I began looking for this weeks slay of the week I knew just who to reach out to. I know you're reading this thinking, who is she talking about? Well without further ado, meet Aries Gee. You may even know her by her nickname Ari.
Aries is a second semester sophomore at the Illustrious Clark Atlanta University. She's originally from the south side of Chicago, but moved to Atlanta permanently January of 2017 to further her career, focus on school, and build her brand. She's majoring in Business Administration. Now remember earlier said I was obsessed with her hair? Guess what SHE DOES HER OWN HAIR! She actually created a brand Slayed By Aries Nicole, were she specializes in sew ins, closures, frontals and even natural hair. Y'all know once I found that out I had to ask her, what made you start doing hair? Her response was actually shocking she said, "I started doing hair my freshman year of high school when I cut all my hair off because of heat damage and I hated going to the shop. So I learned to do my own hair and after months of allowing my short cut to grow out, I began to make my own wigs and install them as well as style them." The reason I found that shocking is because normally when people cut their hair, they began going to the shop more because we all know short hair cuts are harder to upkeep.

That's a true skill that Aries has. A lot of hair stylist I know can do great hair on other people, but can't do their own. She's unique because she learned how to do her own hair first then started doing other people. "So many people began to ask "who did your hair?" that I started thinking I can make a business out of this. I started my business by making wigs for classmates, my moms friends, and family members, then sew-ins. Then I started my own healthy hair journey and learned how to care for natural hair as well." said Ari. I find it amazing that since she's cut her hair 6 years ago, she hasn't been back to a hair shop. Since Ari has started her business her clientele has increased over high school and doubled in her freshman year of college. I love seeing black business flourish especially young women!
I always talk about how attending Clark Atlanta has changed me over the years, so I had to ask Ari if it has done the same for her. She answered by saying, "Clark has helped me in so many ways that I've never imagined. From the many networking skills to the many opportunities offered on and off campus." I told y'all it's something about attending an HBCU that will shift your thinking. Talking to Aries, I learned that she has a good head on her shoulders and is heading down the path of success. I was curious as to what exactly were Ari's goals and dreams. She told me that, "My goal is to open my own hair spa after graduating and eventually starting my own cosmetology school. I also intend on becoming a radio or talk show host or producer. I have many talents and plan to use each and every one to be successful and being a graduate of Clark Atlanta will definitely help me grow more as an aspiring artist and entrepreneur." I can't see what the future has in store for Aries!

Ari has a super girly and chic style. I love how she turns simple pieces into cute outfits. One outfit that stood out to me was the one she wore in the picture below. Aries is wearing a black bodycon style dress from Fashionnova. It isn't just a regular bodycon dress, it has a deep V and sheer bandage sides. She paired this look with the perfect shoe, some black strap up heel sandals from Lolashoetique. I absolutely love this look. It's perfect for a night out at the club or even a date night with your boo. Her soft mack-up was perfect for this outfit. Aries future seems so bright and I can't wait to see all her business shine! Much success to you Ari on your path of success!
