Day Three: Ninth End Of Summer Fast & Detox
Walking Into Something New, The Unknown

I can’t believe we’re already at the end of the fast. This was our first year doing three days instead of a week, and honestly, I was nervous. I thought maybe it wouldn’t be enough. But God reminded me that He doesn’t need a full week to change a life, He just needs your obedience. I pray these three days have rekindled your fire for your Creator, because I know they have for me. God has sent me so many reminders of who He is and just how powerful He can be.
It’s a gloomy day here, but this morning I went for a run and felt so connected to God. There’s something about moving your body and breathing in the quiet that makes His presence undeniable. As we close this fast, I want you to know this: God has placed something inside of you that He’s waiting for you to birth, but it’s on the other side of your obedience. You cannot fully do what He’s called you to do until you know who you are in Christ. I pray this fast lit a new zeal in you for Him, because He wants to be first. The world is full of noise and distraction, but when you put your focus back on Him, He’ll give you a peace that surpasses all understanding.
Now, let me be real with you, completing this fast doesn’t mean the rest of the year will be easy. I don’t know how the rest of 2025 will play out for you, but I do know this: if you keep Him first, walk in who He called you to be, and do what He told you to do, He will cover you with grace no matter what comes your way.
As you return to the things you gave up, I pray you go back with fresh eyes. Keep the habit of reading your Word as part of your daily rhythm. Ephesians 5:15-17 says, “So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.” You are the light of the world, and God wants you to carry that light into every space you enter, your job, your family, your community. Nothing in your life is by accident. Everything you do is meant to bring Him glory.
So as you close out this fast, ease back into things slowly and cover it all in prayer. Thank God for what He’s done, and believe He’s already fulfilled your intentions. Remember the story in Matthew 9:28-29, when Jesus asked the blind men if they believed He could heal them. Their faith made them whole. The same is true for you: because of your faith, it will happen.
Be mindful of what (and who) you prioritize. Sometimes, without even realizing it, we put things above God. I’ve done it too, choosing TV over reading my Word is still choosing TV over Him. Until your relationship with God is right, it’s impossible to fully love yourself or others, because you won’t even know yourself. Pay attention to who you surround yourself with. Iron sharpens iron, and your circle should reflect Christ. But also know, some instructions from God are just for you, even if you don’t fully understand them yet.
As we step out of this fast, I encourage you to pick a book of the Bible to study each month. The only way to recognize His voice is to spend time with Him. We spend time doing so many other things, so why not carve out time to read His Word?Remember, God’s order is always Be → Do → Have. We’ve uncovered the be and the do, but today I want you to focus on the have. God has blessings with your name on them, but if the first two aren’t in place, He can’t release them. Honestly, there are some blessings you don’t even want right now, because you’d fumble them. Obedience shapes you into the kind of person God can trust with more.
One of my favorite prayers is: “God, prepare me for the blessings before they come. Prepare my heart, prepare my mind, make me the person who can carry what You’ve called me to.” God wants you to live a life of abundance, not lack. His Word is filled with His promises. Today, I want you to pause and write down three promises of God that you’re standing on. When life gets heavy, go back to those promises.
Obedience isn’t always easy. Romans 6:16 reminds us that we are slaves to whatever we choose to obey. So ask yourself: are you choosing to obey sin or to obey God? Jeremiah 18 paints the perfect picture of why obedience matters. Jeremiah was told to go to the potter’s house, and because he obeyed, God showed him a vision of how He molds us like clay. Had Jeremiah not done the first step, he would have missed it all. That’s how obedience works. Sometimes you won’t see the whole picture, but God only asks you to take the next step.
As we close this out, I pray you step into this final season of 2025 with a tender heart, ready to obey. I pray you feel the weight of the calling on your life and realize your obedience matters, not just for you, but for the people connected to you. Someone’s salvation might be tied to your “yes.”
For those who did the detox, I hope you really made room for what’s next. Change doesn’t happen overnight, but small daily disciplines create the future you want. Remember that word you wrote down on day one for how you want the rest of your 2025 to feel? Go back to it and ask yourself: what will it take to make this word my reality?
For me, that word is intentional. To walk out the rest of my year intentionally, I have to stop “going with the flow” and get clear on what I want. And then I have to be bold enough to say no to anything that doesn’t align. That’s what commitment looks like.
I challenge you to create a mission statement for your life, a simple, guiding truth that keeps you accountable. I made one a while back, after reading Everyday Magic by Mattie James, and it’s been my anchor. It doesn’t have to be deep or long, just something that helps you say no to anything that doesn’t aligned.
As we step into this new season, remember: life is always going to life. But discipline and commitment will shape your future. You’re not lazy, you’re just not committed yet. Find your “why,” and let it carry you.
I want to thank you for joining me on this fast and detox. My prayer is that you feel renewed, restored, and ready to step boldly into what God has for you. The old season is complete. It’s time to walk into something new. And while new may feel scary, remember that God is already in your tomorrow.
Until next year.
