Confident Women Clap For Other Women

As you already know, last week, I was in New York for some business. I was there for a hair shoot and to take some content photos. I needed a make up and hair stylist, to come get me together. As I was browsing on social media, trying to find the perfect one, I came across so many talented people. The talent and hustle in New York is on another level. After a long hard process, I found two amazingly talented women to book.Thankfully, both of the ladies had agreed to come to my hotel room for my service. The hairstylist allowed me to send her my wig early, to customize it. That way, all she had to do was come put it on my head. As soon as I met the hairstylist, Naz, I instantly felt her good energy. Many stylists, have a reputation for being talented but not professional and vice versa. That was not my experience with Naz. She was so sweet and really brought the look that I wanted to life. We had great conversations and laughed the entire time. Hearing about how she had moved to NYC from Virginia and was creating a empire, really intrigued me. A few hours into getting my hair done, the makeup artist, Kenola, arrived. She was so bubbly and patient. We began chatting and I soon learned she was from Trinidad. Kenola also moved to NYC alone, and was also building her brand. Being around successful women does something to me. I was on a high. Seeing how hungry and talented these women were really showed me that girl bosses are killing it. I love seeing women perfecting their craft. I love seeing girl bosses shine.

So many times we have this idea that only one female can be successful. Society has a way of turning everything into a competition, especially with females. They make us think that only one can be on top. Think about it, according to the media, there can only be one female rapper, but that is not true. There is room for every woman to be successful. One woman shining will never dim my light. When I see another female doing it, I don’t try to tear her down. I hate when a female sees another successful female, and assumes that a man is funding her life, or that she doesn’t deserve the life that she has. That is envy. When I see other females really on their hustle, I don’t get jealous. I get inspired when I see other hard-working females. I love when women are breaking barriers that people say they can’t reach. The next time you see a successful woman, compliment her. Another woman could be doing the same exact thing that I’m doing and I wouldn’t see her as competition. I would cheer her on. Being jealous and envious can hinder you from becoming successful. Stop being so focused on other people, you are your only competition. A lot of people say they’re for female empowerment, but can’t stand the thought of another woman doing better than them. I refuse to get envious when I see successful women, because I don’t know the work that they put in. I don’t know the struggles that they’ve been through. Being a successful girl boss is hard, I will always clap when I see another woman winning.

If you find yourself becoming jealous and asking why her and not me, you need to check yourself. Another woman making it, doesn’t close the door on you making it. Nobody controls your success but you. So stop worrying about the next woman and focus on being the best woman you can be. Major shout out to Naz and Kenola for this beat. I appreciate you both for coming thru the way you did. Go compliment a successful female today, it won’t kill you. Her win doesn't mean you lose, just clap for her. You aren't even in the same race.
