Five Shoes To Pair With A Leather Dress

dymond phillips • Oct 23, 2020
We are well into the fall season, and the the temperatures are finally dropping. I'm so happy I can start to pull out my fall favorites. Today, I want to share with you one of my favorite pieces ever. This black leather dress is so cute and chic. Vogue wrote that, matrix style coats and dresses were one of the 11 autumn/winter trends for 2020. Designers like Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Hermès, Versace, Saint Laurent, Mugler, Fendi, Alberta Ferretti, and more, have all launched leather dresses and coats this fall. The great thing with this Black Leather Dress, in particular, is that you can dress it up or down. On top of that, it can also be worn open as a jacket. Shackets (shirt jackets) are another major trend this year. The dress I'm wearing is similar to the designers style, and an affordable price. It's from Princess Royal Boutique and is only $120. If you're in the Detroit area, go shop the boutique at 29107 Northwestern Hwy, Southfield, MI. If you're not, shop with them online. (click here)
If you're interested in purchasing a black dress and don't know what shoes to pair it with, this post is for you. Today, I want to share five ways to wear a leather dress. These shoe styles will work even if the leather dress is a different stye.

1.Thigh High Boot.  I love thigh high boots in the fall. I pair them with dresses, jeans and almost everything. If you're plain Jane, go for a solid leather or suede thigh high boot. If you're a little more risky with the way you dress, add some animal print boots. The number one animal print this fall is tiger, but I love snake print. Adding a thigh high boot makes the dress more unique. You could even wear this look to work because the dress is past the knees. Nobody in the office would even know they're thigh high. I would wear this to work or out with the girls. My Snake Print boots are by Steve Madden. They're sold out, but Amazon has them on sale now.

2.Lace-Up Heel. Depending where you are this fall, you may can get away with wearing a sandal heel. In places where it's 60s and up, this would be the perfect look for brunch or dinner. I love strappy heels, they make your foot look amazing. In Detroit, we have a few days where the temperatures aren't too bad during the day. I would definitely throw this on for a daytime outing look.I paired it with a bag that's the same color as the shoe. Whatever color lace up heel you have will pair nicely with your black leather dress. My shoes are from EgoOfficial.

3.Espadrilles or Slip On Flat. If you're looking to dress down this look, these shoes are perfect. I would wear this look for a day of running errands, or a casual daytime lunch date. One thing I learned about myself during this pandemic, is that I love to be cute but comfortable. I paired mine with leopard print espadrilles, but you could do any print or plain. If you don't have any espadrilles, pair it with a slip on shoe or low top sneaker. By adding a flat shoe, it dresses it down without making it look tacky. My shoes are from Saint Laurent, but Asos have a great dupe.

4. Ankle Bootie. If you're looking to add an edge to the look, add a heeled bootie. I love wearing booties with dresses, it tones the dress down but adds a pop. The look is so stylish and chic. I paired mine with a leather and cheetah print bootie. Ideally, I would wear this with a plain leather bootie for a full leather look. If you don't have a leather bootie, pair it with a sock bootie for a stylish look. Nordstrom Rack have sock booties in multiple colors. If you're looking to be plain, add a black boot. If you want a pop of color, add a red bootie.

5. Classic Pump. The easiest way to style this dress is by adding a classic leather pump. This is the perfect outfit for work or date night. This look is so simple, but yet cute. Personally, I added a black pump, but you can add whatever you're comfortable with. Some people think pointed toe pumps are out of style, but here to let you know they aren't. They're classic, timeless, and can be dressed up. If this look is too simple for you, add a nice bag and chunky jewelry. Accessories can add an extra oomph to any outfit. My pumps are from Christian Loubitin, but any plain pump will work. Steve Madden make great affordable pumps.
