Solo Trip To Charlotte
Hey hey, I know today isn't Monday, but I didn't want to keep you waiting four more days for this post. I travel alone a lot and one of my readers asked why I didn't capture my journey. After thinking about it, I decided to take the time to Vlog. Turns out, it wasn't as awkward as I thought it would be. Two weeks ago, I went to Charlotte for the 2nd annual blogger, Ignite Your Influence Conference. This event is put together by, Majesty Acheampong (https://www.instagram.com/bornmajestic/?hl=en), a Charlotte blogger and blog coach. This event was filled with bloggers and creatives from all over the world. The speakers included: Mattie James, Brittany Hennessy, Valerie Eguavoen, Kish Burries, and Lola Akinkuowo. They spoke on creating your voice, finding your influence, growing your social media, getting paid by brands and so much more.
The event started at 10am and ended at 3pm. I drove to Charlotte, the morning of the event and stayed just one night. I'll do a separate outfit post on it. I say all of this to say, INVEST IN YOURSELF. That doesn't mean go to every event, because every event isn't legit. It means when you see something you truly want to go to, or somebody you look up to is there, research more on it and pay the price to go. I waste so much money throughout the week on nonsense, I had to start putting money where it counts. Also remember, going to an event is not doing the work. You must go to an event with a purpose, and apply what you learn. Going to events, meeting people and never using the information, is a waste of time. All of the knowledge I gained, and the connections I made, were well worth the $125 I paid for the ticket. On top of that Mattie James and Erica Simmons, knew my name. I absolutely love them. Mattie blogs full time (my future goal,) and Erica takes amazing pictures with great story telling. I previously attended two other events they were at, making this my third. Every time I see them, we chat organically and I gain insight from the experts. I was kind of hesitant to travel AND attend an event alone but I didn't let that stop me.
