Maybe Unknown Never Unnoticed

Worry less on the fame and more on the success!
This weeks spotlight goes to one of the most genuine people I’ve met. While I was in Philly for Thanksgiving a few months ago I bumped into this amazing person. His energy was very down to earth so talking to him came natural. Whenever I’m out I try to talk and network with different people. This night I was out at a hookah bar in North Philly. Everybody knows I love hookah. I honestly don’t remember how the conversation started all I know is we started talking about different flavored hookahs. As time went on I learned he was a singer and had an amazing story to tell. I knew I had to share it on the blog. We exchanged contact information and social media’s.
I wish I could have got this interview recorded because he is so humble but yet hungry at the same time. He even sung a little bit and I could tell he had an amazing voice. Overall I learned so much about him that I would have never knew just by looking at him. He was so nice and respectful, you could tell he’s been in the industry for some time. This unique artist that I am speaking of is called Unknown Writer. He is a R&B singer/songwriter. When asked how he would introduce himself he answered, “A singer that has yet to be heard, a poet that doesn’t write for recognition, and a ghostwriter that has yet to be summoned.” Unknown Writer is from outside of West Philadelphia, but growing up he was a military brat who moved a lot as a teenager. It wasn’t until he moved to VA at the age of 16 where he actually started to develop his craft. Since then he has much success with his craft. Unknown Writer has done performances with people like DMX, Jamie Foxx, Miley Cyrus and High School Musical star Corbin Bleu, just to name a few. Unknown Writer is self-managed, and has even helped provide insight about the industry for artists such as chart topping artist Eddie Jones. Many artist and writers don’t have longevity in the music entertainment industry because they don’t do the proper research and learning to master their craft. Unknown Writer has a love for knowledge of the music industry which drove him to read anything he could that explained the ins and outs of the industry.
Unknown Writer has a vibe unlike any other artist today. Some industry professionals have called this artist, “A hidden gem of knowledge, and passion for the craft”. Currently, Unknown Writer is getting ready to release his album, “Is He Better Off” later this year through his label N4orceEnt/Universal Music Group; the album will be available on all streaming and digital platforms worldwide. You know I had to ask him to describe what kind of project this will be. He responded by saying, “This project is entirely mixed, mastered, and I produced some of the tracks as well. I have versatility in the realm of creativity for sure. The release date is yet to be determined but it will be released this year.” I don’t know about you, but I’m super excited for this album, I know it will be something super dope and unique.
Another question I had to ask Unknown Writer is, what plans for this year besides the album. I just love hearing people’s goals for the new year it’s motivation for me. He said that after the album drops, “I’m hoping to explore more writing options for other artists as well as developing them to come into their own sound.” I find it so cool to see him wanting to help other upcoming artists. So many artists now think that only one of them can successful. Rather than help build the next person up they try to tear them down. One thing I was shocked to learn during the interview was that he is classically trained in voice and piano with a vocal range spanning over 4 octaves. Unknown Writer’s vocal range spans from an Eb2 to a C7. I’m not one to know all the musical terms and definitions so I had to ask how that helps him as an artist. I learned that he has a broad vocal range which gives him the ability to write for many different artists as well as new ones in the future.
I know you’re wondering how in the world he came up with the name Unknown Writer, I know I was. Of course I had to ask. He told me, “I came up with the stage name, Unknown Writer, because I want to be able to have my work being played in places, and not have people know it’s me. Hidden in plain view.” I love that he doesn’t just want the fame and spotlight. He wants to be behind the scenes. It’s the ones behind the scenes who actually have the best success, without them the people in the spotlight couldn’t operate. On top of his album, Unknown Writer has a debut single, “Sky Falls Down” releasing very soon. Unknown Writer says both the album and the single are a reflection of his multiple sides as an artist. There is a lot to explore with this artist so be prepared to study and pay attention to the message his music has. Unknown Writer is someone who doesn’t fit the traditional mold of an artist in today’s industry to say the least…so sit back and get ready for an enticing ride!
I’m so happy I was able to go out and meet Unknown Writer he is definitely someone I hope to collaborate and work with again in the future. Whenever I’m in Philly I will for sure link up with you.
