Mid Year Check In

Dymond Phillips • Jun 17, 2019

June is halfway thru the year, let's check in.

Happy Monday, today is the third Monday of June 2019. It's crazy that we're already halfway through the year. As the weather heats up and all the fun begins, don't forget to continue pushing towards your goals you set in place for the new year. It's funny to me that the momentum people have in January is typically gone by June. Before you know it, it'll be January 2020 and your same goals will have carried over another year. Isn't it funny how we sometimes lack the discipline to stay focused. Everyone at some point of their life losses focus, but you can't stay off track for too long. When learning to ride a bike, you have to fall down a couple times to learn. As a kid, after we fell down we got back on the bike. Why as an adult do we not do the same. Failure is evident. It will happen, but if you're not failing you're not trying hard enough. Playing it safe never made something great happen. If failure is your excuse, push through. Understand that things will never be perfect. Stop waiting on the right time because the time will never be right. It's so many excuses that can prevent you from going after everything you say you want.
I'm not only talking to you, I fall off track all the time. I have to focus myself. You can't always get yourself back on tack, you need to have people around you who can hold you accountable. These people are your Purpose Partners. You need to have some people who can pull your coat tail to get back on track. Your accountability partners can't be scared of you or your antics. This person or people must care enough about you to tell you the truth and will push you, even when you don't want to push. I personally, have multiple purpose partners. For example my mommy is my accountability partner. A couple times a week we both share different goals we have or things we have to do, and we have mid day check ins throughout the week, just to see how they're going. My mom isn't afraid to continously push me even when I get annoyed. I might not always like it but I truly appreciate it. Also, I have fitness accountability partners. My friend Bianca who lives in Miami will text me asking if I went to the gym. I also have Brittney and Nicole, who were work friends who turned into accountability partners. We have a group chat where we share what we're eating and when we do workouts. Once a week we all meet and go hiking. It's good to have people who push you to be great. I don't like having friends who just kick it with me, but don't keep me on track. Read a book, go to the gym, create some proactive habits to help you accomplish your goals.
With all this being said, June is a good month to go back and assess where you are. Look at the goals you set in place at the beginning of the year and see what you've done. Come up with a six month plan to help get you back on track. Lastly, get you some accountability purpose partners who push you to be great. Stop hanging with friends who you can only party with. 2020 is six months away. Just say 2020, the year just sounds extraordinary. I don't know about you, but I don't want to walk into an extraordinary year with mediocre habits. We still have time to nip them in the butt. Don't let your 2019 goals become your 2020 goals. Have a great week, be PRODUCTIVE!
