My Rock

What’s more important than God and family? I’m blessed to have a supportive family behind me. I don’t have friends. All of my friends have been like family to me. BUT like all families, we have our problems. My mommy is my rock, we’ve always been pretty close. As I’ve gotten older the more I appreciate her and the closer we are becoming. Have you ever done anything sneaky and once you get caught realize your mom has been thru the same exact thing? That happened so much in my teen days, it even happens now. I realized we are more alike than I’d like to admit. For example, growing up, I was boy crazy. Honestly don't know why but I was. Majority of the times I was in trouble, was due to something with a boy. Whether it was getting caught with a boy in the house, coming home late, sneaking n dates, or spending all my money on a boy, IT WAS BOY RELATED! As I’ve gotten older, and had more conversations with my mom, I see she was boy crazy as a young teen too.

I remember this story my mom told me about her being late for curfew, she was hanging with a boy (like me). In order to cover up her story, she had someone take her bike so that she could tell my grandmother it got stolen. Anybody who knows me, well younger Dymond, knows that that’s something I would’ve done. Of course she got caught, like I always used to get caught. Now, I’ve learned, just be honest. You never know, if your mom has been in that situation. The moral of this post is to say, talk to your mom about what’s going on with you. Open the line of communication, it will bring you two closer. One thing my mom always told me that I just understood is, “God picked me to be your mom for a reason, I’m here for you to help you not judge you.”
