My Vacation Makeup Routine & Product Breakdown

dymond phillips • Jan 28, 2022

By now, you should know I’m obsessed with traveling and being on vacation. I am currently in the Bahamas with my best friend for her birthday and having the time of my life. My favorite part of traveling internationally, has to be the excursions. I love pushing past my fears and trying new things. While we were here, I went to the Atlantis and slid down six water slides. One thing that’s a must for me is looking good while doing the activities, because let’s be honest, those pictures need to be fire. Luckily, this time the weather wasn’t too hot, so my face wasn’t melting. I know a lot of people try to go makeup free on vacation, some days I do too. But on other days, I want to look polished, especially when I have plans to take pictures. I’ve finally perfected my vacation makeup and it’s even perfect for water parks. Don’t get me wrong, I love my natural skin and I’m comfortable not wearing make up outside, but I still love to wear it. My vacation makeup is a soft glam, which doesn’t require a whole lot. As you can see in the picture below, my vacation makeup is very natural and adds a little extra spice to any look. Let’s break down my look:

Let’s Talk Eyes

First things first, before I go on vacation I always make sure that my eyebrows are tamed. Whether you get your brows waxed, threaded, or whatever, make sure you clean up those eyebrows before you head on vacation. I use the Benefit Cosmetic 24-Hour Brow Setter, as a gel for my brows. Next, I go in with the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Concealer to clean up under and over my brows. I also use this concealer all over my eye lid, since I don’t use eyeshadow much on vacation. Lastly, I use the LA Girl Brow Bestie to lightly fill in my brows. I like using a pencil on vacation, because it gives me more of a natural brow, than my normal pomade does.

Moving On To Skin

This is where things are very tedious. When I’m on vacation, I’m doing a lot of walking and exploring, along with activities, and I don’t want my face to look too oily or cakey throughout the day. After I put on my sunscreen, I go in with the Milk Hydro Grip Primer. Next, I apply the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder, to control oil because I have oily skin. Then, I spray the Mac Prep And Prime Fix+ Spray, all over my face. After that, I use that same Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Concealer, under my eyes, around my mouth, in the middle of my forehead and the middle of my nose. I use a beauty blender to melt all of it in. Then, I use a little of the Nars Radiant Foundation all over my face. Next, I use the Fenty Beauty Match Stix for contour. Then, I go in with the same, Laura Mercier Translucent Powder, all over my face. I really focus on the areas where I put my concealers. After that sits for a while, I spray my face with a setting spray. Normally I use the Morphe mist, but I left it at home, so I had to use the Mac Fix+ spray. Last thing I do is add a very minimal highlight with the Black Radiance Highlighting Powder.

As For The Lips

During the day, I like to keep it simple with a gloss and liner. Today, I used the Naya Vista Lip Liner and Lipgloss. I topped it off with the Fenty Beauty Glass Bomb, for an extra shine. If it was later in the day, like dinner, I would have used a lipstick and gloss over it. Sometimes, i Just use a clear gloss with a brown liner for looks.

There you have it, that’s how I achieved this look. I try to keep a balance while on vacation. I don’t wear makeup everyday, but some days when I want to be extra fine, I will. Another tip is to try and use less products. This look lasted all day and now I’m about to spruce it up for dinner. Don’t worry my vlog of this trip will be up next Monday, so be on the lookout!
