The Unfathomable

Dymond Phillips • Apr 01, 2019
On Sunday, my night was ruined after hearing some devastated news about, Nipsey Hustle. He was a LA rapper who was gunned downed outside of his store, Marathon, at the age of 33. For some reason this death felt very heavy for me. After reading all the articles, I just sat in my car, numb. I wasn't the largest fan of his music but I did listen to it. It was deeper than the rap, he was a good man. He had a different way of thinking. As an entrepreneur he was one to admire. Between running his businesses, having an amazing rap career, being a great father, loving on his family and giving back to his community, he was an all around stand up guy. He wasn't interested in the glitz and glamour of the industry, more so, he was interested in investing his money and bringing up the black community. He and his girlfriend, Lauren London, kept to themselves. They weren't interested in being all into social media and that's why many love them. Everybody who knew him, says he was nothing but positive. He was a true servant of his community. I've watched many rappers pass, but I can't stomach this one. I had to get off social media. It's some people in the world who are so disgusting. Rest In Peace to the Legend Himself.

I say all of this to say, what will your legacy be. Life is shorter than you think. I know this saying is very cliche but it's true. I'm a child of God, I was put here to serve others. I had to stop being so selfish. I come last, after Jesus and others. Everybody has a gift that God has given them. The point of the gift is to serve the world. Discover what gift you were given and stop being so greedy. Use your talents to help others. The only way a legacy is built is if you use you dedicate your life to serve. My pastor asked the question, are you a distribution center or a storage facility? A distribution center has stuff going in and out 24hrs of the day. An example would be UPS. A storage facility gets things put in often but stuff rarely comes out. God blesses us daily, are you distributing the goods out onto others or holding it all in? Stop thinking financially because that's not it, pouring into others can be with anything. Nipsey's death was a wake up call for me. Are you serving your community, your family, or shoot are you even serving your group of friends? Reality check, God blesses distribution centers, not storage facilities. Maybe your business isn't growing because you’re in it to make a quick buck, you are not serving anybody. What is your mission statement? If you don't have a business, what is your mission statement of your life? Everybody has a purpose, within that purpose, God calls us to serve! My challenge to you is to find a way to give daily, Genuinely! You have to have the, "Heart of a servant and the work ethic of a champion."- Mattie James
Have a great week! ❤️
