Slay of the week

This week it took me longer than normal to choose my slay of the week. There's so many features I want to have on my site so it was hard to pick which one to select. This free spirited beauty has always been a great inspiration. I've been keeping up with her since 2013. This weeks slay of the week goes to Shateria Moragne-EL. She is a fashion designer, fashion blogger AND hair icon. Look at the picture above, her curls color and style are on FLEEK. I used her as my hair inspiration for my newest blonde and brown hair combo. Can't wait until my natural virgin hair is as long and full as hers. Now I know what you're thinking, she probably has this celebrity hair stylist, BUT you're wrong. She actually grew up in a hair salon. Her mother is a stylist and has been doing her hair for most of her life but she says that when her mother isn’t around she colors and styles her hair with a $20 old school curling iron. Lets get to the back story behind who she is. If you follow her on Instagram @ishateria, you would know that her life may seem like a mystery. She rarely opens up about her personal life on social media, that's one thing I love about her. I hate when people describe her as Rick Ross ex, because she created so much more for herself.

Well, Shateria was born in Baltimore, but has lived in Miami, and currently lives in LA. Her style can be described as a Cali/Chic type of vibe. Another thing I love about her is that she is a Christian, praying women. She has traveled the world pursing arts and fashion that shaped her aesthetic. Before fashion, Shateria came up being a dancer (ballet, jazz, modern, and tap.) Shateria graduated from the Baltimore school for the arts, and is a classically trained dancer. She also acted and sang, and even was choreographer. "I used to be a choreographer. I used to teach dance classes and everything like that. And I was like you know what? I’m going to start a T-shirt line." Shateria created the clothing line, Frontrow, back in 2012. At the time she was living in Miami, and by living there it shifted her mind from just a t-shirt company to creating something more. She was inspired to create a upscale clothing line. It's no secret that women in Miami like to dress with little to nothing on. Shateria wanted to create the message that you can be cute with clothes on. The clothing line was originally going to be called Broken Zippers, but she switched it up. In the same year of her launching her line, she showed her collection at New York Fashion Week. This is what Shateria had to say about her first NYFW show, "So people that were close to me and telling me “You’re not ready” “Fashion week is too big”, I’m an up north girl it’s not too big for me! Im going to take my talent to New York and we gone rock. And that’s just what it’s going to be.

So I showed in NYFW and when I tell you, it was so crazy. It was so amazing it was a hit, ever since that day. And the people that were against me, that night called and was like “OMG I’m so proud of you” “OMG you did so good”, straight on me. I was like for real? Really? Oh okay! So if I had to give any advice it would be do not listen to people around you." That piece of advice is so well needed. Don't be afraid because people around you are telling you no. Breakthrough and follow your dreams. If Shateria would ave listened her line would not be where it is today. Since 2012, she has done a show in NYFW every year and even has an upcoming show this September 2017 for NYFW. Shateria is a African American brown skinned girl who is excelling in a caucasian dominated industry. "I really feel like as an African-American woman, there are so many Caucasian women that do this. We out here too! And it’s fine cause we’re gonna’ get it and I love that cause I’m a part of that. I am a brown girl forever! And I think that it’s just amazing. So when I see other women doing their thing it really does inspire me." She is such an inspiration to women of all races when it comes to following dreams. I love when I see her in my timeline, because her outfits are always to die for. In the picture below, Shateria is wearing a deep V-cut Jacquemus blouse. Some boyfriend style jeans from her line Frontrow. Celine bracelets, and a Hermes cdc cuff. With these very cute tie up Tom Ford shoes. One thing Shateria is really big on is legacy. Here's what she had to say on why, "If you never try it then you’ll never become anything and your legacy will just be like, BLAH. You’ll just die and be a person that was here. Who wants to do that? Legacy is so important to me. You want to leave this earth with a mark." One lesson that she has learned in her fashion career is to be kind, "I promise the world is very small. You gotta’ be kind to everybody even if you don’t wanna be. Because they might be the sister to the person that you may need for something." We here at Dymonds Diary wish her nothing but more success. "She has plans to do creative sides other than fashion in the near future, and want to be known for being a creative artist that expresses her self through her multi faceted crafts. Shateria has many projects coming soon including new collections for Frontrow FW17." Make sure you subscribe to her site Shatariam.com to see whats upcoming and shop Frontrowinc.com.
