Don't Quit

Happy Birthday Martin Luther King Jr!! Without him, life would be completely different. All day I've been reading a lot of his old quotes and even listening to his old speeches. One quote that stood out to me was, "If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” This stuck with me for so many reasons. So many times in life we just want to give up, especially when too many things are happening at once. I know for me, it's sometimes hard to keep moving forward! But just think, what if MLK Jr. would've gave up? Anything good takes time and hard work. Don't let life defeat you!
I know you've heard the saying, "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade." But that's not how life always works. Sometimes life will throw lemons, cranberries, pineapples, and even bananas your way. So what do you do then? YOU MAKE FRUIT PUNCH! Now I know you're probably laughing but I'm serious. Things don't always go as planned you have to be able to keep going no matter what comes your way. Let me tell you a story:

Last year as you may know, I had horrible year in school. My grades were horrible, and my mental state wasn't the best. Because of that my parents forced me to live on campus another year. All my friends and peers live off campus and I had already mentally prepared myself to be moving off campus. I had apartments in mind, decorations and even furniture ideas. Instead of my one bed studio apartment I'm stuck living in the suites. If you aren't familiar with Clark's campus, let me just tell you. The suites are considered "off-campus" housing for mainly under classmen. It's dorm style with four girls, but we each have separate space and rooms. At first I was heated, I planned to just get three jobs and pay my own bills rent and everything. But something stopped me. I already pay bills for my brand why not just put my money into that and saving. So I moved into the suites. At the beginning of the semester, I was rarely going in my room. Like I said all of my friends live off campus so I was always at one of their houses. It wasn't until the end of September that I actually stayed in my room. I wanted my own space and rather than let that room just collect dust I had to face it. I could've just moved back home, and transferred to a school in Michigan. Even could have kept staying at my friends houses, but why keep running from my problems.I had to deal with them and do what I have to do so when the time comes my outcome can be different this go round. I had to make fruit punch!

Here's what I want you to take from my story if there's anything you're running from or if you feel like giving up, don't! Keep pushing. So what one door closed, go open another one. Don't give up! You can't say you want success without a active plan. I had to decide if I was going to continue being defeated or make a way! I come from a family where my mom, dad, even my grandma have that "by any means" attitude! Don't be a quitter. Keep going and just watch, you'll look back like I can't believe I almost gave up.
If you ever feel like giving up just say these lyrics to yourself, "I won't be defeated, I won't give up now. Because I've came too far to let my problems get me down." Have a great week, be encouraged!
