The Bigger Picture

Last week, I went to see the movie, The Greatest Showman. I actually enjoyed it a lot. Many people didn’t see it because it's a musical. Since I first saw the preview I knew I had to go. What made me really want to see it was the fact that Zendaya was in it. Overall it was actually a really good. The movie had multiple hidden themes. One of the obvious ones was to always follow your dreams. Another message of always remaining true to yourself. Deeper than that the movie had another meaning of how greed will ultimately cause destruction.
The Greatest Showman is a movie based on the life of Phineas Taylor(P.T) Barnum. It celebrates the birth of show business, and tells of a visionary who rose from nothing to create a spectacle that became a worldwide sensation. With that came many struggles and setbacks, but he kept going. The people he brought up with him were all unique(different.) In the movie he creates a circus. People around him saw it as a disgrace and tried to tear them down.
P.T Barnum came from nothing, he was a orphan who married a rich woman. Her father doubted they'd last. He was determined to prove everybody wrong. First he established a strong crowd at his circus. But yet he still wasn't happy. He moved his small family of four into a large mansion down the street from his wife's old neighborhood. But still wasn't happy. As the movie went on he became more and more obsessed with getting into the elite crowd.
P.T Barnum added a opera singer because he knew the high class would accept him after she came into the picture. Once he began working with her he began to let the circus and everybody in it go to waste. He risked everything just to go on tour with her and everything came crashing down. His greed for wanting more and not acknowledging everything he already had caused him to lose everything.
If you're into musicals you should definitely go see it! Anywho, I said all this to say, if you can't be happy where you are now, how can you expect to be blessed with more. Let's be real everything that glitters isn't gold. I understand it's some stuff I've never had that I do want to get in the future but I can appreciate where I am now. It's not always about the destination sometimes the journey is much more important. For example if you currently have a Kia and you really want a Benz. If you can't appreciate the Kia how will you appreciate the Benz?
Some people try to find happiness in things and that can't always feel certain voids. I know you've heard the saying, "Money can't buy you happiness." Now I'm NOT SAYING being broke will make you happy but if you try to buy yourself things to make you happy when you stop getting "stuff" you'll be right back where you started. Happiness can not be bought!!!
"It's everything you'd ever want it's everything you'll ever need and it's here right in front of you. This is where you want to be," This is a quote from one of the songs in the movie. It means everything you've been looking for can be right in front of you, but you're blinded by everything you want to see and everything you don't have. You have to be happy where you are no matter where that is!
