#FastingFor4.0s

Well the summer is quickly coming to an end for us college students, and even some students in the south. I believe this upcoming semester/school year is going to be the best one yet. Yes it is going to be hard times, and hard work but I believe we can make this a great year academically. I came up with this idea to “fast” and detox before school. Fasting is the act of giving up something we love to focus on our relationship with God. You replace it with time to spend with God. During this time, you focus more on prayer time. Specifically, we humbly deny something of the flesh to glorify God, enhance our spirit, and go deeper in our prayer life. Now, this isn't just for students, parents if you have children in school, this is the time you fast for them. Even if you're not in school you can join me in this.

The bible teaches that there are several reasons to fast, many of the great Saints fasted (David, Paul, Jesus, Moses, Elijah, etc.) One reason to fast is if you have a major decision to make (Acts 14:23.) Now when I say this I mean if you can’t find which direction to go it’s wise to seek God in hope that god will give you wisdom and guidance in making that decision. Another reason for fasting is personal revival (Acts 9:1-9.) If you’re just feeling disconnect from God, feeling like you’re spiritually dry fasting is a good way to rekindle that flame for God. But the purpose for this fast is Fasting for clarity (1 Corinthians 7:3-6) We are fasting for a great school year. Sometimes, especially me, we get so caught up in the world: social media, friends, relationships , etc. and we forget to spend time with God. This is a fast for mind clarity. We are surrendering ourselves to hear from God.
Now this is also a fast for breakthroughs. We can have personal and spiritual breakthroughs. God often uses pain to get our attention or to prepare us for a breakthrough. If things don't seem to be going your way and you are hurting, God maybe preparing you for a breakthrough. Sometimes it takes a painful experience to change our ways (Proverbs 20:30). This fast for me is to get me back on track. If you are confused, feeling overwhelmed by life, feeling outnumbered, feeling under-resourced this fast is for you. We are praying and fasting to ask God for financial breakthrough's, relationship breakthroughs, school breakthroughs and even just a breakthrough with God. Breakthroughs come when you seek them. (Psalms 77:2) "When I was in distress I SOUGHT THE LORD, I stretched out my hands in prayer to him." This is what we are going to be doing for the next six days. Fasting is a sign to God that you’re serious about a change.

Right now I need you to think about three or more of your favorite things, favorite "go-to" foods, favorite things to do. Now the first things that came to your mind, that's what you will let go of. Now when I first thought about it social media was #1. I would love to cut out social media, but unfortunately I have to promote for the blog and keep you all updated. But I will cut it out as far as just for personal use. I'm also cutting out TV (hour per day.) I'm saying bye bye to fast food, and "unhealthy snacks" (Chips, cookies, fruit snacks, candy, etc.) I'm only drinking water also. I want to cut out Starbucks but I do the best work for the blog there so I am cutting out the drinks. Now, what are you cutting out? It doesn't have to be a certain number, but think hard on what you truly love. I love junk food, so I knew that had to go. Don't shortchange God, he knows your heart.
The point of me letting go of these things is for me to replace that time with prayer. Praying for breakthroughs and clarity. This is a time for silence to meditate on hearing God. This is a six day fast. Within these six days, I will be keeping you updated on scriptures to read each day and different prayers. On next Tuesday, I will be doing vision boards with a few friends. If you are in ATL feel free to join me. I will be spending more time reading and praising God on the success that he going to bring me this year. My mommy is even joining me so this will be a time where I pray more with her and my grandma. This a time of humbling. If you are going to join me send me a DM, email, or use the hashtag #FastingFor4.0s so that I can make sure I am praying for you all as well.

I understand that all of my readers are not Christians like me. So for you, I'm asking you to detox. I detox at least once every season. Detoxing is good for school because over the summer, you've been doing everything and haven't focused on school. This detox for you will help you have a better mindset for the school year. I'll even be joining you in this. Take a look on your life, detox your friendships, relationships, diet, social media, your surroundings. If you've never detoxed your life, now is the time. Get at least 8 hours of sleep, WORK OUT DAILY. It doesn't have to be going to the gym, it can be working out at home, taking a walk. Detox your finances. When you have bad money problems, you have a bad life. When you have a bad life, you’re more likely to engage in toxic activities. Pay back debts, spend less money on unnecessary things and save more. This detox will help you be prepared for school by opening your mind.
Well here's the details. This fast and detox will start tomorrow Thursday August 10th, at noon and end on Wednesday August 16th, at noon. Don't think about the things you're giving up focus more on the blessings that are coming. This is going to be a great experience for everybody I'm excited for those of you who are participating, Just because you do this fast doesn't mean God is going to just hand you success and breakthroughs you will still have to put forth the work. Like I said, I will be sending you updates and scriptures daily with the help of my Grandma. If you're not already, go follow @DymondsDiary_ on instagram and Dymondlashay on snapchat. Tomorrow at noon get make sure you start the fast out right by praying, confess to God the things you are letting go and ask him to prepare your mind. Get ready for your breakthrough and clarity!

Until tomorrow....
