Slay Of The Week

Am I the only girl who see’s a pretty girl and says you’re pretty? Well, this weeks slay of the week is a true natural beauty and definition of a fashion killer. I always see her walking down the promenade or at CAU events. I had the pleasure to work with her during my freshmen year. I was a dresser for the Young Lavish Fashion Show and she was one of the models. She was super down to earth and just cool. As you know, I wanted to make all my Slay Of The Weeks CAU students just so that I can showcase our beauty and talents. I always see her on my timeline. She’s a up and coming model. There are so many aspiring models in Atlanta but she is heading down the right path. She isn't just a “Instagram model.” Everybody meet Saniia Lynch. She’s a Fashion Merchandise major at Clark Atlanta University. She’s only 22 and has been modeling for years. I was super excited when she agreed to the interview. Saniia was born in Philly, and like me, she’s the only child. Y’all know, since I went to Philly two weeks ago, I fell in love with the city and all the talent within it. I had to ask her if being raised in Philly impacted her view of fashion. she responded by saying, “Growing up in Philly gave me all my flavor.” Her style is super dope, she can switch it up and still slay. That to me, is true fashion. I asked Saniia, Besides Philly, where do you get your fashion sense from? She said, “My grandmothers and mom. They're always so stylish and I picked up fashion very early.
I remember looking back at one of my old elementary composition journals where a teacher wrote to my mom, Please do not let Saniia come to class with rings on every finger.” Saniia knew early on, what she wanted to do and her love for fashion began to grow. That got me thinking, isn't it crazy how our love for something sometimes starts so young. Like with me, I always loved fashion, and knew I wanted to make a career out of it. I knew, very young, that I couldn't draw so I knew being a fashion designer wasn't for me. It's crazy how your interests are within in you from an early age. You really have to pay attention to that. Saniia began modeling at age 9. Her mom enrolled her in a modeling agency called John Robert Powers. That is where Saniia learned proper etiquette, makeup, runway, and posing. I asked her, what made you start modeling? She said, "I started modeling because it was always a passion of mine." Many people have passions that they never follow. They don't follow them due to money issues, fear, or they don't have the drive to work towards them. That's why Saniia's story is so unique, she began following her passion young.
Many people believe that the modeling industry has changed over the years. There are so many "Instagram" models and people who claim they're models because they have a lot of likes. Here's what Saniia had to say on that, "Many people think that modeling is just about being cute and that was never my idea of it. I had a cheap little camera that I would sit on anything, set the timer and pose in my basement. I'd have mini little photoshoots for Myspace." Guess you can say she isn't new to this. Fast forward to now, like I said Saniia is a senior at CAU. Here's what she had to say about her school life, "I'm not too involved on campus because I work and shoot a lot but I would like to be more involved somehow if I could find time. I always appear in the fashion shows though." Since I've been at Clark I've learned so many life lessons and secrets to life. I had to ask Saniia what has being a CAU student taught her. She said, "Mainly, CAU has taught me the power of networking. Sometimes it is about who you know my loves, so open your mouth and let people know what you are here to do!"
Now normally, I select an outfit from the "Slay Of The Week," but this week I wanted to make it different. Also, Saniia slays on the daily with no effort. So I asked her what was her favorite outfit and she told me the one she wore below. I absolutely adore this look. It's perfect for a fall season date night or even just going to class. It's business casual so you could even wear something like this to the office or work. It's something comfortable for walking. Here's what Saniia had to say on details of this outfit, "If I could pick one of my favorite outfits it would be when I wore the all nude look with the salmon leather jacket that was featured on fashionbombdaily. I honestly couldn't give outfit details on this look because the total look was thrifted." People think I'm crazy when I go thrifting, you just have to know what goes with what and piece them together accordingly. We were able to find out that the nude loafer style shoes are Kenneth Cole and the dark grey/brown bag is from Aldo. "It isn't about the labels it's about the style!" said Saniia. We here at Dymonds Diary love seeing Clark girls doing great things. We love watching this beauty's modeling career rocket and soar. Keep following your dreams girly this is what life is about, it was a pleasure interviewing you!
