Crockpot Success

Slow and steady wins the race.

I'm alive, I'm well, and I feel fresh! I love Mondays, because they set me up for the week and they help me get back on track. It's a new month which is like a new chapter in the year.  Whatever happened the week before, whatever money you spent, whatever person didn’t call you back, none of that matters in a new month. I feel like I’m currently in a weird space in my life. I call this time, a  transitional period. During this time, I need to look to God the most.  It's so easy to get caught up in social media, the news and/or millennial syndrome. Millennial syndrome is when you want to reap the fruits of your labor, without actually doing the work. Dymond’s Diary has been out for over two years now, and I’m still in the process of getting it right. I feel like millennial syndrome tells me, "you’ve been doing it long enough why isn’t it getting you what you want," but then I have to get back to reality. Two and a half years, is not a long time. So many people in their 20s want things to come quickly, without actually doing things necessary. If you ask anybody do they want to be successful, I bet they would tell you yes. People want a whole lot out of life, don't want to actually pay the price and really sacrifice for it. Myleik Teele, (owner of Curlbox) once said, "Give something everything you got for three years. After three years, you can let it go, only if you know you've worked hard every single day for those three years." Give something three years of your attention, and watch how it changes. It’s a mindset you must have. If you don’t believe in yourself, business or whatever you have going on, why would anybody? You have to have that much passion and love behind it. Last week, I told you guys to get back focused. Don’t be that person who sets new goals every year, and watches the time pass. Time waits for no one. 70% of people who make New Year’s resolutions and new year goals let it go by February, but don’t let that be you. Not this year, not this decade! This is the time to get back focused and to really check yourself. Everybody looks focused on Instagram, but are they really in person? Are you honestly giving what you say you want your all? If you can say yes, this message is NOT for you, but if you can say no, this is for you. It’s not too late to get back focused; it’s not too late to figure out a new plan. Don’t get discouraged because you thought you'd be somewhere else by now. Use that as an opportunity to get where you want to go. Get creative and think about new ideas. Okay one door was shut, but that means another one will be opened.
B Simone recently released her road to 1 million on Instagram. It's where she is going to do different hustles every day until she turns 30, because a goal of hers was to be a millionaire by that age. Her plan is to grind every day until April 5, when she will have $1 million in her savings account. I found it so inspiring and amazing for many reasons. If you don’t know who she is, she is a comedian, artist, and entertainer who is from Dallas, Texas, but moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 2015, at the age of 25. She is an entrepreneur, who sells cosmetics. She's also one of the comedians on Nick Cannon’s Wild-N-Out,  that comes on MTV. I loved following her story, because she was on YouTube making videos from the beginning. I loved the fact that she stepped out, and moved to Atlanta broke, for entertainment. A lot of people think she moved for comedy, but she didn’t. Comedy just happened, and when God gives you a unique gift, sometimes it just "happens." Her ultimate goal is to be the female Jamie Foxx. She wants to dominate acting, music and comedy. After watching her, 'Road To One Million' documentary part one, I went back and watched her youtube video. The video is of her moving to Atlanta, in 2015. People don’t understand that she was broke, and that was her first time moving out of her families house. She was working two jobs, plus perfecting her craft of entertainment. In 2020, she is now $135,000 away from being a millionaire. See, a lot of people look at where she is now, and forget that she was putting in work five years plus. Success does not happen overnight, do not allow social media to rush your come up. In her video of her moving to Atlanta, she describes how she sees beauty in the journey to success. She was so humbled and so hungry in the video below.

I say all this to say, slow and steady wins the race. I don't know about you, but I want a crockpot success. I want a legacy and quick success doesn't create that. You've heard the story about the tortoise and the hare. Yes, the hare was faster, but it wasn't focused on the task at hand. Too many people are going nowhere fast. Don't fall victim of the the millennial syndrome. Everything happens in divine timing. Learn to appreciate and love where you are, because you're there for a reason. It's some key lessons that you learn during the journey, don't miss them trying to rush. There's no quick way to become successful. It's no secret sauce that you can get. The saying, "Life is a marathon," is so important. People who think life is a race, will go hard for a short period of time, but the extra effort doesn't last that long. Real success, no matter what it is you want, will take progress little by little over time. Focus on the big picture. Consistent baby steps!
