Don't Give Up In This Last Quarter

How will you close out the final chapter of the year?

It's the first Monday of the last quarter of the year. We are in the final stretch. Champions are made in the fourth quarter, not the first. I don’t know if it’s my fast that I went on, or if I just woke up on the right side of the bed, but I woke up energized this morning. Every year, I find myself amazed at how fast time flies. I can not believe we are about to enter the holiday season again. That’s the one thing about time, it really waits for no one. There are less than 90 days left in 2022. During my fast, I looked back at the goals I set for 2022, and it’s so many things I haven’t tackled. There’s so many things that come up throughout the year that distract my focus. I’m so happy to be back locked in and laser focused.

We are officially entering that time of the year, where people start to put off things to next year. You know what I mean? People, me included, will see the time that we have left and put things off until we have a fresh start, like a new year. It’s honestly a vicious cycle where you can end up on a procrastination wheel, struggling to accomplish anything. Of course, you make small progress, but being on a procrastination wheel, will hinder you from accomplish large goals that take a lot of energy. Have you ever had a to do list, and avoided the large tasks, while completing the small ones? That is the procrastination cycle. A famous blogger, Mattie James, always says, “I do believe in David Your Goliath which is my take on eating a live frog in the morning aka getting the hardest thing of your day done first.” I applied that in my everyday life and gained an epiphany: When you tackle the large tasks and goals, the small ones feel like a walk in the park. I’ve been operating backwards by being lazy and completing small tasks, and putting off the larger ones. By the time I look up, I realize that I’ve put off all the major goals I had. Not anymore. I’m moving into this quarter with the mindset of facing my larger goals and struggles like David.

It’s time to double down on the things you say you want. Stop running from the goals that scare you. Stop procrastinating on taking the daunting steps to get you to the life you want to live. If you have to get uncomfortable, do that. I’m not only talking to you, I’m speaking to me too. I’ve been living in a very comfortable space for the first few quarters of the year. (I don’t mean physical space, I mean mentally.) Growth and success can’t come in comfortability. What I’ve been doing, hasn’t been working, so it’s time to change some things around. If that’s true for you too, it’s not too late to change. If you give your goals 100% for the rest of 2022, you can accomplish them. You don’t need to wait until the new year, you don’t even have to wait until tomorrow. Start today! Take some steps towards your goal, and watch how you get momentum to get it done. If you didn't set any goals at the beginning of the year, take some time to think about what you want to accomplish before this year ends. The best way to set goals and action plans, is to think long term: Where do you want to be in five years?  Break that down into yearly goals, then monthly, and last weekly. Once you know where you want to be, it's easier to set goals towards that.

It’s officially fall, the fourth quarter and the final chapter of the year. How will you close out the game?
