Remember I told y'all two weeks ago that my school, Clark Atlanta University, breeds some of the best people. Marquicia Hendrix, was just one examples of that. Allow me to introduce you to another. This beauty is someone who is about her business. She has two businesses before the age 21 and is continuously growing them daily. Can you believe that she began her career at age 15? Now I know y'all really want to know who I’m talking about. Allow me to introduce this weeks Slay Of The Week, Niia Broaden. Who is Niia Broaden? A 20 year old, entrepreneur from Detroit, MI. She is a senior at the Illustrious Clark Atlanta University, majoring in school business management. What were you doing at age 15? Playing high school sports, hanging with friends, thinking about college? Well Niia’s mind was in other places. At 15 years old, she went to cosmetology school for two years and graduated in 2014. Her dream was to always be a hair stylist, because she was always good at it, so she began to chase that dream early on. Not a lot of people know what they want to do at age 15. Heck, some people don't know what career they want at age 24. So it’s good that she had her focus early on. When asked, Why hair? Niia answered by saying, ”My mother owned a hair salon on Detroit's west side for many years, she was a hair stylist as well. So I guess you can say "I get it from my mama”.” Doing hair and being a business woman was in her blood. Her hair company, Hair Slay Hair Company, was started in summer of 2016. When she first started, it was only for hair extensions but as time went on it began to expand. Today, Hair Slay, sells hair accessories, hair extensions and eyelashes. Niia is a beauty expert, “I’ve always been a girly girl, so I love eyelashes, pretty hair, lip gloss, and other things of that nature,” was what she had to say in regards to her company expanding. She didn’t stop with just hair, she recently launched her own lip gloss line called, 50 Shades Of Slay. On August 20th, her company will be turning 1, save that date, we all love a good anniversary sale. When asked how she feels about her hair company’s growth in less than a year, Niia said, “Not only is it a brand, it is a lifestyle.” Ladies we all love a good slay. Here’s what Niia had to say about slaying, “The lifestyle of "slay". Slay means to gorgeous, perfect, to "kill it"; So Slay with your hair, your eyelashes, your lip gloss- all of that.” Slaying on the daily is something that Niia definitely does, she represents her brand extremely well, Her hair, face, and outfits are always on point. I knew when i was late night scrolling and came across a picture of her that I had to feature her on as a slay of the week. In the picture above, you can see that she is wearing a black tiger Zara tee, with a pair of black joker shorts from Fashionova. She paired this look with some adorable Tory Burch sandals. Of course she is rocking her own extensions Hair Slay Hair Company. Being a student at CAU, has helped me learn so much, even helped me grow mentally and even helps me as a business woman. Clark Atlanta University, has so many students who are doing positive things and who are successful entrepreneurs, you can say what you want about the school but clearly its helping people spark there ambition. You know I had to ask Niia, how has CAU helped her, and what lessons its taught her for her business. She responded by saying, “Clark Atlanta University has taught me a lot. Throughout these last couple years, I have learned how important it is to manage your time wisely, budget funds, prioritize, independence, and most importantly how to work well with others.” One thing that Clark is doing right is shaping there students for the real world and teaching them tools they will need need in life. We at Dymonds Diary, look forward to seeing all the success Niia and her company has coming. Through all her success she remains hungry to continue to grow and expand, and humble thru it all.
