My Morning Routine For Glowing Skin & A Productive Start To The Day
From Prayer To Skincare, Here’s How I Start My Mornings With Intention, Energy, And A Glow That Lasts All Day

Your morning sets the tone for the rest of your day. I can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve had a jumpstart morning that caused me to spend the rest of the day playing catch up. Personally, I thrive in routines; they help me flow. Whether you realize it or not, you already have a morning routine. The question is, does your routine set you up for success, or is it holding you back? If I’m being honest, a good morning routine really begins with a good nighttime routine, but we’ll save that conversation for another day.
I used to be the type of person who would sleep in until the very last possible second before getting up. I don’t know how I used to function like that, because now I rely heavily on routines. The first two to three hours of my morning are crucial to my well being. I recognize that I’m in a season where I can be more selfish with my time since I’m single without children. But I’m also part of a community with mothers and wives who prioritize waking up before their households so they can spend quiet time with themselves.
I truly made myself into a morning person. These days, my body naturally wakes up between 6:50–7:05 am Ideally, I’d like to be a 5 am or 6 am person, but I haven’t gotten there yet. I set an alarm for 7:10, but I rarely hear it because I’m already awake. The key to waking up earlier is simply going to bed at a decent hour. Another thing that forced me into consistency was my dog, he has to go out first thing in the morning, no matter what.
Another tip for waking up earlier is to change your alarm sound. I’ve heard of people using gospel songs, clapping, or even jingles that make them smile. The sound of your alarm really sets your initial mood. When I used to wake up to the generic alarm sound, I would wake up annoyed, stressed, and anxious because it was so harsh. Once I changed the sound to chimes, I started waking up more peacefully. Another hack: put your phone or alarm across the room so you have to get up to turn it off. I used to keep mine in the bathroom, and once I was up, I was less likely to crawl back into bed.
Once my eyes are open, I like to give God thanks, even if it’s just a simple, “Thank you Jesus for opening my eyes today.” Then I brush my teeth and take my dog outside. I try to make it out five to ten minutes before sunrise because the sky is so beautiful at that time. While Saint potties, I read my Bible and pray. When we head back in, I feed him and refresh his water.
I head straight to the gym after feeding Saint because if I wait, I won’t go. I’m proud of the consistency I’ve built with working out over the last few months. What helped me was being honest with myself about when I actually had the energy to go. For me, afternoons and evenings were too much of a struggle. Some people thrive then, but I didn’t. Knocking it out in the morning sets the tone for my day and gives me the energy to push through.

After the gym, I log onto my live morning calls with Mattie James And More Community, it’s a community where women, mothers, wives, and more come together. Some days we dive into Bible study, other days it’s a Q&A, and I love spending about 30 minutes soaking in that encouragement and connection before moving into the rest of my routine. Then I shower and dive into skincare. My morning skincare is crucial. As I’ve gotten older, my skin has gone through phases where I break out randomly, and one way to combat that is with proper skincare. I like to double cleanse because it removes sweat, makeup, and anything else lingering on my skin. A brand I’ve always trusted is CeraVe, it’s affordable and effective. They have a new balancing cleanser that hydrates while controlling oily skin, and it’s been a game changer for me.
Then it’s time for coffee and breakfast, which is usually oatmeal. While that’s heating, I take my vitamins. I started consistently taking vitamins last year, and I can tell a difference in my energy and overall health. My routine includes Iron, B12, Vitamin C, B9, Magnesium, D3, and a hair/skin/nail vitamin. Some people prefer a multivitamin, but I’ve gotten used to taking them separately.
As I enjoy my oatmeal, I typically watch a podcast or interview for morning motivation. Listening to something encouraging sets a positive tone for my day. Finally, I look over the to-do list I created the night before and officially start working.
Having a consistent morning routine has changed everything for me. It’s not just about glowing skin or getting to the gym, it’s about creating space to start my day with intention. My routine blends faith, movement, skincare, and vitamins, but it also includes community. The time I spend connecting with other women through the And More calls reminds me that I don’t have to do life alone, there’s power in showing up for yourself and being surrounded by others who are doing the same. No matter what your season of life looks like; single, married, parenting, or somewhere in between, building a morning routine that works for you can set the foundation for a more productive and peaceful day. If you’ve been feeling scattered or rushed, I hope this post inspires you to create small habits and find community that leave you energized, confident, and glowing from the inside out.
