Quick Routine No Matter What Temperatures Are
Is it just me, or has this summer been extremely hot? I feel like every single day has been 80° and up. I love attending summer outings, while dressing up and looking cute. Nothing feels better than the sun beaming on my face, my hair being laid to perfection, and my face being beat to the Gods. With temperatures like these, I can’t afford to do full coverage makeup looks, for daytime festivities. This summer I have been loving the no makeup, makeup a look. I thought why not share my quick and easy summer makeup routine, featuring my favorite, Boxycharm. It’s a monthly makeup subscription. The key to summer make up, is wearing less products, but still wearing enough. It’s super important to look moisturized, but not too greasy. In this months box, I received the Goat Milk Moisturizing Cream by Kate Somerville. I have sensitive skin, and this product felt so good going on my face, plus it was great as a primer for my makeup. A trick I learned from Jackie Aina, is to apply setting powder before foundation, so after I moisturize and prime that’s what I do. I also apply setting spray after the power, right before my foundation. For the summer months, I use a foundation that is lighter and medium coverage. I have been loving the Pat McGrath lately. There’s so many light to medium foundations out there, find the one that’s perfect for you.
Another important thing with summer daytime make up, is to not overdue your eyeshadow. I’m not a huge eyeshadow fan, but on the days when I’m going to a day party, brunch, or just want a little extra, I use it. Typically I’ll keep my eyeshadow very neutral with browns, but today I added a little shimmer. Another product I received in my Boxycharm box was, Phase Zero Makeup The Necessities Eyeshadow Palette. This palette has eight matte shadows that are very pigmented and the shades can be buildable, if you want more of a dramatic look. I used the darkest shade and the medium shade, with a little bit of the brown shimmer on the middle of my eyelid.
I was super excited to find that I received the Eloise Beauty Prism Luxury Eye Shadow Brush Set, in my Boxycharm box. I received some brushes from them in my box a couple months ago, and I’ve been obsessed with them ever since. I even went ahead and ordered one of the other brush sets, for foundation. Their brushes are so cute and girly, but also soft and apply products perfectly. The great thing with having light eye makeup during the day, is that you can add to it for the night. These brushes can also be used to blend out concealer or bronzer.
One thing that makes my summer makeup so easy, is having lash extensions. If you know me, you know I used to not be a lash girl. I just started wearing lashes within the last three years. I liked them before, but the maintenance and upkeep was just too much for me. Plus, if I’m being honest, I don’t know how to apply strip lashes on myself. Having lash extensions helps me look put together, without having to do anything. There are so many lash technicians all over the world, get on social media and find one close to you. Whether you wear extensions or not, it is important to take care of your natural lashes. This month I received, Dr. Lili Fan Probiotic Xlash Enhancer. This product is meant to be applied at night to help your lashes grow longer and fuller in 4 to 12 weeks. Although I have my lash extension, I applied it to my lash line on the top and bottom. I’ll share my before and after pictures in a few weeks.
Whether you’re applying summer, or winter makeup, setting powder and spray are super important. Setting spray locks everything in, while setting powder keeps your face from melting. I keep my Mac N45 powder on me, throughout the day, just in case I need to apply some powder. I know I already spoke about top lashes, but in order to have a pop, I apply mascara to my bottom lash line. This month, I received the Beauty For Certain Whole Lotta Mascara. This product added volume and length to my bottom lashes. It really made my eyes more bold.
