We All Need Somebody

Over the weekend, I was able to go visit my family in Detroit. While I was there I tried to soak in as much family time as I could, because when I’m in Atlanta I’m so busy with school work and the blog that I don’t get to see my family as much as I’d like. While I was there, my mom woke up with a grand plan to cut down the branches off her trees in her yard. She woke up bright and early, went to Lowe’s and bought hard hats, goggles, gloves and of course an electric chainsaw. She even cooked dinner and invited my aunt, nana and cousins over to help. After everybody ate and started sitting around watching tv my mom came saying, “Y’all ready?” Everybody just looked at her like we are not cutting trees. So she decided to just do it herself, because she really wanted it done. That lasted for about ten minutes. We ended up getting up to help her. In the end the job got done with the help of everybody and she was able to save $600.
Later that night I was looking at the backyard and it got me thinking. Do you ever think you don’t need anybody to get the job done. I for sure have a horrible problem of thinking I can do it all on my own, but you can’t. We weren’t created to do everything by ourself, in life we need the help of others to succeed. Think about it, my mom could have cut the trees by herself but it would’ve took her longer and she would've missed some spots. Doing everything alone can be more difficult than working with someone. It’s ok to ask for help, it’s ok to not be able to do everything. Neyo had the perfect lyrics, "I'm good all by myself, but I'm a force when we're together." Even Beyonce, has a team behind her to ensure that everything's running smoothly. Nobody knows everything that's why you work with people who have strengths in the areas you don't.
The whole point of me saying this is to help you depend on people. Believe me, I'm the only child so I'm quick to say I'll do it all, but it's so much more work than necessary doing it that way. It doesn't make you less strong when you ask for help it actually makes you better because you understand you can't do it all. Everybody isn't against you. Get you a team that supports you and your vision. Watch the difference in your life when you don't have to do everything alone. When the whole team has the same work ethic and goal in mind it's no way the job won't be completed!
